Hi Koichiben,

Well, my name is Erick and I’m a 23-year-old student of Economics at the University of Sao Paulo, in Sao Paulo City (Brazil), the city with the largest Japanese and Japanese-descendent communities alike in the world outside Japan itself. Theefore, I’m pretty much used to Japanese customs, cuisine and even spoken language - there’s a borrough mainly settled by Japanese immigrants at the start of the XXth century.

By the way, the japanese community is very excited with the approching of the 100th annivery of first arrival of the first Japanese pioneers to this country.

I’ve watched your video on the diffrences between the American and the Japanese BigMac.

Although I haven’t undestand very much because I’m a mere apprentice in the Japanese language I found your experience herself very interesting. Tell me: is there the Super Size hamburger in Japan? In Brazil, it isn’t.

To be honest I agree with everything you said! I spent one year studying in Japan and the I gotta agree with you, McDonald’s in Japan is WAYYY different than the ones in the US. In fact I found it to be like a fast food version of a STARBUCK’s! (^_^)

Anyways I can’t say much about watching your video often but, keep up the good work!

PS oh! people use to eat french fries with ice cream back in the days! But not these days (^_^; )

youtubeのビデオが面白かった。koichiの日本語やばくねぞ。no one can speak a language perfectly. っていうか、ちょっとだけでも日本語しゃべれるなんて、すごいじゃん。people are just haters. here where i live there are so many peopleがそういうwatereddown日本語使ってるんで… なぜほとんどのアメリカ人が太ってるというとマクのせいじゃねよ。理由が多くて、マクで食べるせいばっかりでもないじゃん。活動的なLIFESTYLEをしてない人が多いし、どんな食べ物の分類があるかとうことによるし、色々理由があって気をつけた方がいいじゃん。

But anyways,頑張れ。猿も木から落ちるんだよ。

Huh. I stumbled on this video while perusing YouTube, and it was pretty interesting. A lot of commenters on YouTube seemed to think you were Japanese, but just from watching the video I was tipped off when you missed “M-size” for the drink. During my year living and working in Japan (*not* as an eikaiwa-sensei, I’m a lousy teacher), “M-size” was one of the first things I learned. It was kind of a survival thing, not having a Japanese hanging out with me the whole time I had to learn how to order food real quick, and fast food was the easiest place to start!

Anyway, good luck with your mission of spreading Japanese and American culture!

it was really interesting to watch, though i have no idea what you were saying. it was fun to watch.

in my own opinion i have to say that American fast food, ( McDonalds) are gross, and unfit to eat at. i use to work at McDonalds but i didnt like it.

i dont know Japanese, but i wish to learn in the near future. all i need is a teacher. i ahve books but thats not enough. o(^^)o

I live in the USA and I don’t speak Japanese, but I was wondering… why did you dip your french fry in ice cream? Were you saying that americans do that? People in america don’t do that. Maybe I should start dipping my french fries in ice cream. Hmmm…

I had McDonald’s in Kyoto once. Big Macs in Japan are much better than Big Mac’s here in the USA. If McDonald’s was as good in america as it is in Japan, I’d actually eat there.

Maybe somebody from the USA should go to Japan and do a youtube video about Japanese pop culture. That would be cool.

OxfordやLongmanのような大きな辞書には
McDonald’sは、”最悪のアルバイト”という意味でのっていると聞いたことがあるが本当らしいな。

やっぱり、全く日本のMcDonald’sも清潔というわけじゃないんだ。
こっちだって貧乏な人はマックにやってくるよ。
日本のMcDonald’sはall the day開いているんだけど、
いつも清潔な上に、インターネットもタダで使えたりする。
すると、家の無い人　so-called ‘homeless’　が客として McDonald’s に住み始めるんだ。
特にこういう人たちはMcDonald’s　refugeeと呼ばれて、問題になっているんだ。

でも他の時は「インタビューする」または「話を聞く」になります、。

なので、この場合「留学生から話を聞きました」「留学生にインタビューしました」が正しいです。(*´ｪ`*)ﾎﾟｯ

JOB　INTERVIEW以外、面接という言葉は使いませんね。

そしてうちのお父さんの名前はこういちです(*´ｪ`*)ﾎﾟｯ

「けずかあつこ」さんは、正確には「けづかあつこ」が正しいのではないかな？
おそらく漢字で書くと「毛塚」になるのではないかな？

日本語の「ず」と「づ」は、発音はまったく同じだけど
もとは漢字の読み仮名ですから、漢字を由来とした読み方で
ちゃんと区別します。
「戸塚」は「とつか」あるいは「とづか」と読み仮名をふるけど
「とずか」には絶対なりません。
「塚」という字は「つか」と読みますが、それが濁って「づか」になるわけですから
発音が同じでも「ずか」と書いたら間違いだし、とても気持ちが悪いんです。
まあ、中には無頓着な日本人もいますけどね（笑）

私自身も、漫画家の手塚治虫（てづかおさむ）と同じく
「てづか」あるいは「テヅカ」と読む苗字（手塚）を持っていますが
「てずか」「テズカ」と間違えて書く人が多くて困ります。
写真のプリントなど、お店で何かを申し込んだときによく間違われますね。
細かいことかもしれませんが、やっぱり間違いなので直してもらいます。
その人にも間違いだと気づいてもらいたいので。
（少し考えれば、なぜそれが間違いなのかがわかるはずですから。）
こちらが何も言わなくても最初から「テヅカ」と書いてくれると
「この人はちゃんとわかっているな」と印象が良くなりますし、嬉しいです。

今でも自分の名前をローマ字で書くとき、「づ」を「ZU」とつづるのは抵抗があります。
「DU」のつづりでメールアドレスやクレジットカードを作ったことはありますが、
「ドゥ」もしくは「ドュ」みたいに読めてしまうし、どうもしっくりこない。
ローマ字だと日本語の「づ」をうまく区別・表現できる文字が見つからないんですね・・・。
パスポートは日本の規則で強制的に「ZU」にされてしまうし。
今もDZUとかZTSとかZDUとか、何か良いつづり方はないかと悩んでいる最中です（笑）

マックっていうとMac、MacintoshのPCと思われる。
俺はデラウエアーの田舎だが，田舎では仕事がないのでまともな人も働いてます。
金はゲロ安いぜ。

東京ではマクドナルドはマック。
Macintoshは、G4、G5やiBookと製品の型で呼ぶ。
（ＴＰＯ次第でマックとも呼ぶ事はある）
マクドと言った瞬間に、周囲はフリーズする。オフィシャルの場で、関西弁だとフリーズするのと同じ理由。

The first thing what surprised me when I walked into a Mac first time here in the states was there are many elderly people there contrary to most of are high school students at the Mac in Japan. Then I learned that this society is “you gotta do what you gotta do”.
