こんにちは！Koichiさん！！！

私は２００７年にマーチング留学していました。(日本ではすごくマイナーなMusic sprtsなんですが、Marchingを知っていますでしょうか？）

ところで、留学していた時私のチームメイトに”What’s Up?”を教えてもらいました。そして、返事も教えてもらったのですがその返事が。。。

”Nothing homi-G!”　です。
homi-Gは、正確な単語が分からないのでローマ字で書きました。

このHomi-Gの意味を知っていたら教えていただけないでしょうか？？よろしくお願いします。

The “homeslice” part is even funnier if you put a lot of emphasis on the first syllable.

Are there correct responses to “What’s up”?

Well, one of my American friends always tells me “the ceiling,” “the sky,” “the price of oil,” etc.

sigh….

I guess I should laugh, but this kind of humor tends to elude me. In Japan, we call this stale joke “Oyaji gag.”

Anyway, I saw your You Tube video “J-doramaholic,” and it’s hilarious! You have a great sense of humor, Koichi! I have to tell you that I got the STDs from you. I’m now koichiben- and tofugu-holic!

Hey = Hello = Yo = What’s up = What’s going on

大体同じですよ。特別な意味なし。あいさつです。普通の返事はKoichiさんが書いたの以外もある。Koichiさんはもうよく説明したけど、三つの例を書く。

例1：

A: Hey.
B: Hey / What’s up / Yo / Hi

例2：

A: How’re you?
B: Good, and you?

例３：

A: Hey
B: What’s up?

イギリスの英語がちょっと違いますが、私も「hey」は「hello」と近い（同じ？）だと思った。

アメリカで、heyの返事はheyだと思います。

いつも困っていたことが聞けてすごくためになりました。
そこで挨拶について私も聞いてみたいことがあります。
昨日チャットで2人で話していて、他の人が入ってきたから、heyって言ったら、sasaokakoが何か言いたいことがあるぞ。何だ？って聞かれて、恥ずかしかったのでおもわず即席で話を作りました。
heyってhelloじゃないのですか？？
その人たちはイギリス人の親父達です。私がhuh?という言葉を使ったら、それは何だ？英語じゃないだろうとも言われました。イギリス英語はアメリカ英語とは別のものですか？教えてください！
